You Got Me Rockin: The Soulbreaker Company - ''Black Wool Yarn'' (La Lucha, 2016)

Οι συστάσεις: Οι The Soulbreaker Company σχηματίστηκαν το 2003, μας έρχονται από τη Χώρα των Βάσκων και συγκεκριμένα από τη Vitoria της Ισπανίας. Το 2016 κυκλοφόρησε το  La Lucha πού είναι το 4ο full length album της μπάντας. Ο δίσκος  στριμάρει ολόκληρος στο bandcamp τους: https://thesoulbreakercompany.bandcamp.com
Στο Repeat: Ομολογώ πως δεν έχω παρακολουθήσει τη δισκογραφία τους, ωστόσο ακούγοντας το εκπληκτικό ''Black Wool Yarn'' είναι δεδομένο πως θα το κάνω asap. Εν ολίγοις, ακούμε πεντέμισι λεπτά υπέροχου Proggressive-Psychedelic rock επηρεασμένο από τις μουσικές των 60s-70s. Κοπιάστε άφοβα.

You Got Me Rocking: Alt-J - ''In Cold Blood'' (Relaxer, 2017)

Περιμένοντας τα σπουδαία: Όπως λοιπόν θα έχετε καταλάβει περιμένουμε τον τρίτο δίσκο από τα παλικάρια εκ του Camridge της Αγγλίας, τρία χρόνια μετά το Sophomore album τους This is All Yours. Το όνομα αυτού θα είναι Relaxer και οι πληροφορίες λένε πως θα κυκλοφορήσει πριν το καλοκαίρι. Σίγουρα από αυτά που έως τώρα ξέρουμε, μας κάνει μεγάλη εντύπωση ο μικρός αριθμός (8) των κομματιών, μιας και έχει ήδη κυκλοφορήσει το tracklisting το οποίο είναι το εξής: ''3WW'',  ''In Cold Blood'', ''House of the Rising Sun'' , ''Hit Me Like That Snare'' , ''Deadcrush'', ''Adeline'', ''Last Year'', ''Pleader''.

Από την άλλη είμαι σταθερά ''αλλεργικός'' στα fillers και προτιμώ οκτώ αξιοπρεπή κομμάτια, παρά να μπουν με το ζόρι και 3-4 ακόμη, για χάρη της κάθε δισκογραφικής. Για να πάμε στην ουσία, προς το παρόν έχουμε ακούσει ΜΟΝΟ ωραία πράγματα από τον Joe Newmann (φωνητικά, κιθάρα) και την παρέα του. Αρχές Μαρτίου κυκλοφόρησε το πολύ ενδιαφέρον ακουστικό-ατμοσφαιρικό-ambient-spaghetti western influenced  ''3WW'' και πριν λίγες ημέρες το ''In Cold Blood'' που θα σταθώ, γιατί από το πρώτο άκουσμα του μας θυμίζει το αγαπημένο ''Breezeblocks'' και αυτό είναι από μόνο του λόγος να σε ξεσηκώσει. Μπαίνει φουριόζικο χωρίς εισαγωγές, με έναν ρυθμό σήμα κατατεθέν Αlt-J και αλλόκοτους στίχους που προσπαθείς να αποκωδικοποιήσεις, εν ολίγοις είναι ένα από τα -έως τώρα- κομμάτια της χρονιάς και όσο πλησιάζει το καλοκαίρι θα παίζει και περισσότερο. Μέχρις στιγμής  τα πρώτα δείγματα είναι πάρα πολύ θετικά για το Relaxer, το αναμένουμε με αγωνία και ελπίζουμε οι πολυτάλαντοι Βρετανοί να μας χαρίσουν μια δισκάρα σαν το ντεμπούτο τους An Αwesome Wave (2012).

You Got Me Rockin: ''All These Things That I have Done'' - The Killers (Hot Fuss, 2004)

It's Live Time: Προφανώς  το γνωρίζετε ήδη και ετοιμάζεστε από τώρα για το live της χρονιάς. Το μπαμ που περιμέναμε όλοι οι φίλοι της rock  για φέτος έγινε από το Ejekt Festival και ονομάζεται The Killers!

8 χρόνια  λοιπόν μετά από το κάζο που μας έκανε ο καιρός και δεν έπαιξαν ποτέ στο Rockwave του 2009, θα έρθουν με τον κατά δήλωση του ηγέτη τους και frontman Brandon Flowers, ''Βαρύτερο δίσκο της δισκογραφίας τους''. Έχουν περάσει κιόλας πέντε χρόνια από το Battle Born (2012) και επιτέλους όλα δείχνουν πως μέχρι το Καλοκαίρι θα έχουμε το διάδοχο του και πέμπτο δίσκο τους. Η αλήθεια είναι πως θέλουμε και περιμένουμε επιτέλους ένα δίσκο αντάξιο του πάταγου που έκαναν το 2004 με το εμβληματικό πια Hot Fuss, γιατί κακά τα ψέμματα μετά το Sam's Town έβγαλαν δύο μετριότητες.

Οι εκπλήξεις για τη 2η μέρα του φετινού Ejekt Festival βέβαια δε σταματούν εδώ, αφού ήδη έχει ανακοινωθεί  για την ίδια μέσα ένα ακόμη μεγάλο όνομα της Indie-Alternative σκηνής και μιλάμε φυσικά για τους The Kills της  σαγηνευτικής Alison Mosshart και του Jamie Hince! Φυσικά και θα πούμε περισσότερα και γι' αυτούς σε επόμενο post.

Το σίγουρο πάντως είναι ένα. Όποια και εάν είναι η δισκογραφική πορεία τους, οι The Killers παραμένουν μία από τις καλύτερες συναυλιακές rock μπάντες του πλανήτη και ανυπομονούμε να ζήσουμε στιγμές όπως αυτές στο σημερινό μας video, φωνάζοντας...I got soul, but I'm not a soldier, I got soul, but I'm not a soldier, I got soul, but I'm not a soldier.

You Got Me Rockin: ''Portuguese Knife Fight'' - Cage The Elephant (Tell Me I'm Pretty, 2015)

Οι συστάσεις: Οι Cage The Elephant μας έρχονται από το Kentucky των Η.Π.Α. και αποτελούνται από τους: Matt Shultz (vocals), Brad Shultz (guitar), Jared Champion (drums, percussion), Daniel Tichenor (bass, vocals) και Lincoln Parish (lead guitar). Αν υπάρχει κάτι που τους κάνει ξεχωριστούς, είναι η ενέργεια και η τρέλα τους επί σκηνής, με πρωτοστάτη τον τραγουδιστή Matt Shultz που ''οργώνει'' το stage σε κάθε live.
Το ''δισκίο'': Αυτό φυσικά προσπαθούν να το βγάλουν και στη μουσική τους και για αυτό ο indie-alternative ήχος τους, εμπλουτίζεται άλλοτε με punk στοιχεία, άλλοτε με  garage και γενικά δεν πλήττεις. Ο δίσκος Tell me I'm Pretty κυκλοφόρησε το 2015 και είναι ο τέταρτος και πιο πρόσφατος. Με λιγότερο εμφανή τα punk στοιχεία και τα μεγάλα ξεσπάσματα, έχουν προσανατολιστεί περισσότερο στα indie μονοπάτια με τα μπαλαντοειδή κομμάτια να έχουν σημαντικό μερίδιο στο δίσκο. Σε γενικές γραμμές όμως δε χάνουν την αυθεντική ''βρωμιά'' που βγάζει ο ήχος τους και αυτό είναι πολύ σημαντικό. Οι καλές στιγμές στο δίσκο είναι αρκετές, αλλά προσωπική αδυναμία μου είναι το garagaδικο ''Portuguese Knife Fight που είναι το κοντινότερο κομμάτι στον ήχο που γνώρισα και κόλλησα με τους Cage The Elephant. Α! Ξέχασα. Φέρτε τους Ελλάδα να γίνει πανικός λέμε!!!

You Got Me Rockin: ''Stevie'' - Kasabian (48:13, 2014)

Έχουμε Live εδώ, έχουμε Live: Ναι, συμφωνώ. Η φετινή ανακοίνωση των Kasabian για τη δεύτερη μέρα του Ejekt Festival (σ.σ. Day Two, 14/07/2017) δεν είναι η ''βόμβα'' που περιμέναμε. Ο μόνος λόγος όμως για αυτό είναι πως η φετινή θα είναι η τρίτη φορά που θα μας επισκεφτούν για live εμφάνιση τα τελευταία 5 χρόνια (προηγήθηκαν τα live και πάλι για το ejekt fest το 2012 και 2014). Κατά τα άλλα οι Βρετανοί είναι σταθερά από τις κορυφαίες rock μπάντες του πλανήτη τα τελευταία χρόνια και εάν για αυτό θα υπάρξουν διαφωνίες, κανείς δε φέρει αντίρρηση πως σίγουρα είναι ψηλά στο top των κορυφαίων live συγκροτημάτων worldwide. End of discussion (sic). Όσοι τους έχουμε ξαναδεί όμως χρειαζόμαστε ένα επιπλέον κίνητρο για να τα ξανασκάσουμε. Ποιο θα είναι αυτό? Ο διάδοχος του 48:13 φυσικά. Μαθαίνουμε λοιπόν πως επιτέλους ο 5ος δίσκος τους είναι έτοιμος και τον αναμένουμε εκεί πριν το Καλοκαιράκι. Ο Pizzorno έχει δηλώσει πως θα είναι ''back to guitar roots'', ενώ ο Meighan έσπευσε να τονίσει πως οι πειραματισμοί του 48:13 είναι παρελθόν. Εάν ισχύουν τα παραπάνω, για εμάς τους κιθαρόπληκτους τουλάχιστον, η φάση είναι CAN'T WAIT.

Πάντως στο άκουσμα των ανακοινώσεων κάποιοι είπαν ποιοι Kasabian? Η ''Βόμβα'' είναι οι Jesus And Mary Chain! Μαζί λοιπόν με τους ''Λεστεριανούς'' θα έχουμε τη χαρά να υποδεχτούμε τα αδέρφια Reid, αλλά για αυτούς θα αφιερώσουμε το χώρο και το χρόνο που δικαιούνται σε επόμενο post. Φυσικά αναμένουμε και τις υπόλοιπες ανακοινώσεις για το line-up της 2ης μέρας.

Προς το παρόν θα κάνουμε  click στο παρακάτω άσμα που τρία χρονιά μετά το πρώτο άκουσμα του έχει μπει στο all time classic των Kasabian και κάθε φορά που ''παίζει'' live  σπέρνει πανικό. Εκπληκτική εκτέλεση, ηχάρα και ότι πρέπει για να αρχίσουμε να φτιαχνόμαστε για τις 14/07.

Daydreaming: "Survivalist Fantasy" - Kyle Morton (What Will Destroy You 2016)

Οι συστάσεις:  O Kyle Morton είναι  βασικό μέλος της ορχηστρικής (απαριθμεί συνολικά 11 μέλη) Indie Rock μπάντας Typhoon, στους οποίους παίζει κιθάρα, πιάνο ενώ έχει συμμετοχή και στα φωνητικά. Οι Typhoon έχουν να κυκλοφορήσουν νέα δουλειά από το White Lighter και το 2013, ο ιδιαίτερα παραγωγικός Kyle Morton όμως κυκλοφόρησε το 2016 τον πρώτο προσωπικό δίσκο του με τίτλο What Will Destroy You. Ο δίσκος είναι ιδιαίτερα αξιόλογος, σαφώς και δε ξεφεύγει πολύ από την επιρροή των Typhoon, με τον Morton ωστόσο να επικεντρώνεται κυρίως στο κιθαριστικό Indie folk και σε πιο απλές και γήινες μελωδίες. Ξεχώρισα αμέσως το ''Survivalist fantasy'' που είναι όσο απλό, ρυθμικό, ερωτικό και ταξιδιάρικο χρειάζεται για να σε συνεπάρει.

Daydreaming: Wye Oak - ''Civilian'' ( Civilian 2011)

Οι Wye Oak  κυκλοφόρησαν τον πέμπτο τους δίσκο με τίτλο Tween μέσα στο 2016 και η αλήθεια είναι πως όσες ευκαιρίες και εάν του έδωσα δεν με άγγιξε. Έχουν αλλάξει άρδην μουσικό ύφος κινούμενοι σε αμιγώς dreamy pop ύφος και οι νοσταλγικές folk κιθαριστικές μελωδίες του Civilian που με είχαν συνεπάρει, δείχνουν πως είναι παρελθόν.
Παρά τη σχετική απογοήτευση δεν υπήρχε καλύτερη αφορμή ώστε να βάλω και πάλι να παίξει το πανέμορφο ταξιδιάρικο ''Civilian'' με το οποίο τους ανακάλυψα κάποια χρόνια πριν.
