Home is wherever I'm with you: Πίσω στο 2009, ο Alex Ebert (aka "Edward Sharpe") και η πολυμελής παρέα των Αμερικανών Indie folkers Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, κυκλοφορούν το ντεμπούτο τους Up From Below και θα τους αγαπήσουμε κυρίως για αυτό το χορευτικό διαμαντάκι. Το "Home" θα ανέβει πολύ ψηλά σε όλα τα charts και μέχρι και σήμερα έχει αυτή τη μαγεία όταν το ακούς, να σε κάνει  να χαμογελάς, να σφυρίζεις στο ρυθμό του, αλλά και να γεμίζεις νοσταλγία. Παίζει στο Repeat και μας φτιάχνει τη μέρα!

Daydreamin: Radiohead - "I Promise" (OK Computer Remastered Edition -OKNOTOK- 1997 – 2017)

OK not OK: Στις 26 Μαΐου συμπληρώθηκαν είκοσι χρόνια από την κυκλοφορία του ΟΚ Computer. Δε θα ψάξω να βρω λόγια να περιγράψω το μεγαλείο αυτού του δίσκου γιατί θα γίνω γραφικός. Θα πω μόνο πως δεν είναι απλά ο κορυφαίος δίσκος των τελευταίων είκοσι ετών.
Το "I promise" γράφτηκε εκείνη την περίοδο λοιπόν και δεν κατάφερε(!) να μπει στο δίσκο. Το είχαμε ακούσει από ανεπίσημες ηχογραφήσεις και εκτελέσεις και φέτος με αφορμή την επέτειο του OK Computer, ήρθε η ώρα να κυκλοφορήσει και επίσημα και να μας ανατριχιάσει, γυρίζοντάς μας πίσω στη μουσική των Radiohead εν έτει 1997. Απλά υπέροχο.

You Got Me Rocking: The Horrors - "Machine" (NEW Song, 2017)

The Horrors Are Back!: Δεν το περιμέναμε, αλλά να που οι Βρετανοί Post-punkers "έσκασαν" με νέο (και μάλιστα πολύ καλό) κομμάτι, το οποίο είναι προαναγγελία για το πέμπτο full length album τους, τρία χρόνια μετά το Luminous.
Πρώτο δείγμα πολύ θετικό με το 'Machine", που είναι αρκετά διαφορετικό από ότι ακούσαμε στο luminous, έχει νεύρο, είναι σκοτεινό, κινείται πολύ κοντά στον Industrial ήχο, ενώ έχει πολλές επιρροές από Depeche Mode. Εν κατακλείδι, είναι πολύ, πολύ καλό.

Daydreaming: Mono - "Requiem For Hell" (Requiem For Hell, 2016)

Η κορυφαία στιγμή του εξαιρετικού ένατου δίσκου των Ιάπωνων Post-rockers Mono. 18 λεπτά πραγματικής μουσικής που σίγουρα κάνει είσοδο στα highlights της καριέρας, της μεγάλης αυτής μπάντας. Το video είναι από live εκτέλεση στη Λυών της Γαλλίας πριν ακόμη κυκλοφορήσει το άλμπουμ και αξίζει να παρακολουθήσετε το εκπληκτικό performance αυτών των σπουδαίων μουσικών.

You Got Me Rockin: Foo Fighters - "Run" (New Song, 2017)

Foooos: Δύο χρόνια τώρα προετοιμαζόμασταν -σύμφωνα με τις φήμες- για την πιθανή διάλυση της μπάντας, τελικά όμως προέκυψε ανακοίνωση για το άλμπουμ Νο 9 των Foos πακέτο με μια ΚΟΜΜΑΤΑΡΑ. Δεν έχουμε πολύ info ακόμη για το πότε και τι στα του δίσκου, αλλά το Run μας έχει ανοίξει την όρεξη.

Run: Εύκολα από τα καλύτερα που έχουν γράψει οι FF στην καριέρα τους, το ακούμε δυνατά εδώ και ημέρες στο Repeat. Το κεντρικό riff  είναι φωτιά σκέτη. Το video clip που σκηνοθετεί ο ίδιος ο Dave Grohl δείχνει τα μέλη της μπάντας μεταμφιεσμένα να παίζουν για το ..υπέργηρο κοινό τους σε μία εκκλησία και το αποτέλεσμα είναι ο πανικός ο ίδιος!

Daydreamin: Alt J - "Adeline" (Relaxer, 2017)

Masterpiece: Δε μπορείς  πάντα να βρεις λέξεις να περιγράψεις τη μουσική. Κάποιες φορές αρκεί να τη βάζεις να παίζει συνέχεια, μέχρι να "αδειάσεις" μέσα σου. Η "Adeline", το τρίτο κομμάτι του πολυαναμενομένου νέου δίσκου (Relaxer) των Alt-J που είναι από χτες σε κυκλοφορία, μιλάει για έναν παράξενο ανεκπλήρωτο έρωτα και έχει αυτή τη μαγική ιδιότητα.

Το νέο album θα κυκλοφορήσει στις 2 Ιουνίου και έχουμε ήδη μιλήσει για αυτό, σε προηγούμενο post, ακούγοντας το επίσης πολύ καλό 'In Cold Blood" εδώ. Περιττό φυσικά να πω πως με τα τρία πρώτα δείγματα οι προσδοκίες είναι πάρα πολύ υψηλές και περιμένουμε πως και πως. Μέχρι τότε θα απολαμβάνουμε το καθηλωτικό "Adeline",  που για τον γραφών βρίσκεται ήδη στα highlights της καριέρας των Βρετανών.

Daydreamin: Chris Cornell - "Nothing Compares 2 U" (Prince Cover, Live Accoustic 2015)

R.I.P. Chris: Θλίψη. Όταν φεύγει τόσο νέος, ένας καλλιτέχνης που έχει χαρίσει τόσα πολλά στη Rock μουσική, μία τόσο σπάνια φωνή, αυτό είναι το μόνο συναίσθημα που ταιριάζει στο σημερινό μαντάτο της ημέρας. Ο γεννημένος στις 20 Ιουλίου του 1964 Christopher John Boyle, ή όπως τον αγαπήσαμε, Chris Cornell, βρέθηκε νεκρός σήμερα στο δωμάτιο του ξενοδοχείου που διέμενε, στο Detroit. Λίγες ώρες πριν είχε συμπληρώσει με τους Soundgarden το τελευταίο, όπως έμελλε, live set της ζωής του.

Grunge: Θα τον θυμόμαστε σίγουρα σαν έναν από τους πρωτοστάτες του Grunge, του επιδραστικότερου (μουσικού) κινήματος των 90s. Γύρω στα τέλη του 80 θα σχηματιστούν στο Seattle των Ηνωμένων Πολιτειών οι Soundgarden, οι οποίοι με τον Cornell στη μια κιθάρα και τα φωνητικά, θα κυκλοφορήσουν δύο δίσκους-μνημεία της Rock. Το Badmotorfinger του 1991 και το Superunknown του 1994 θα τους εκτινάξει. Μαζί με τους Nirvana, τους Alice In Chains, τους Pearl Jam θα αναγκάσουν τους πάντες να μιλούν για τη μουσική σκηνή του Seattle. Τα υπόλοιπα είναι Ιστορία. Το 1997 θα διαλυθούν και το 2001 ο Chris θα σχηματίσει με τον Tom Morello των Rage Against The Machine τους Audioslave. Θα κυκλοφορήσουν τρεις δίσκους με σημαντικότερο το ομότιτλο ντεμπούτο του 2002. Στην καριέρα του έχει επίσης να προσθέσει τέσσερις προσωπικούς δίσκους, με κορυφαίο το εκπληκτικό Euphoria Morning του 1999, ενώ πολύ σημαντικός δίσκος θεωρείται και αυτός του Side Project,  Temple Of The Dog, που σχημάτισε το 1990 και με τους οποίους κυκλοφόρησε το 1991, το θρυλικό πλέον ομώνυμο album. Το 2010 οι Soundgarden θα επανενωθούν και θα κυκλοφορήσουν το αξιοπρεπέστατο King Animal το 2012.

Η είδηση του χαμού του ήταν ξαφνική και σοκαριστική. Δεν έχουμε παρά να τον τιμήσουμε σήμερα με μία υπέροχη ακουστική εκτέλεση του, στο "Nothing Compares 2 U", που έχει γράψει ένας ακόμη πολύ σπουδαίος της μουσικής, που επίσης χάθηκε πρόσφατα. Φυσικά μιλάμε για τον αξεπέραστο  Prince. Το "Nothing Compares 2 U", το ταυτίσαμε με τη μοναδική ερμηνεία της  Sinéad O'Connor τη δεκαετία του 1990, ωστόσο θα πρέπει να θυμόμαστε πως το κομμάτι γράφτηκε πίσω το 1985, από τον Prince, για το δίσκο του τότε Side Project του, The Family.
